Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art

Open since 1994, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is the state’s largest contemporary museum. Encompassing over 23,000 square feet, this stunning museum was built using a mix of glass, steel, and concrete. In addition to a permanent collection that includes mixed media, paintings, and sculptures, the Kemper Museum also has a schedule of up to 12 rotating exhibitions each year. These exhibits include Paper Routes-Women to Watch 2020 and Deconstructing Marcus Jansen

The Money Museum

Part of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, The Money Museum offers a close-up view of the world of banking and finance. Self-guided tours are open to the public throughout the year. Here, guests can learn about the economy, currency and the banking system. Interactive exhibits and artifacts are on display and include the Harry S. Truman Coin Collection as well as a peek into a bank vault. 

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Established in 1933, the Nelson-Atkins Museum is considered one of the city’s greatest treasures. Built with neoclassical-style architecture, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art includes the museum and a sculpture park. The museum’s exhibitions showcase Architecture and Design, Chinese and Japanese art, and numerous modern and contemporary pieces. One of its most famous pieces, Shuttlecocks, can be visited in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park.
