Water Lantern Festival to Light Up Kansas City

On the evening of July 27, 2019, head to Frank A. Theis Park for a magic evening. Just across the way from the luxurious Fountain View on the Plaza, the park will be hosting the 2019 Water Lantern Festival.

What Is the Water Lantern Festival?

The 2019 Water Lantern Festival, presented by One World, offers revelers the chance to customize their own unique paper lanterns and set them afloat on the water. A ticket grants you entry to the festival and a commemorative drawstring bag. Also, each ticket comes with a paper lantern and a marker to adorn your lantern. You can add a piece of art, a favorite quote, an important date, or anything that might strike your fancy

Support an Eco-Conscious Event

Those with ecological concerns need not fret. The cost of the event also covers the cost of collecting and removing both the lanterns and any other trash floating about in the creek. They leave the water even cleaner than it was before the event! Sustainability is a major focus of the Water Lantern Festival. So, the lanterns themselves are also comprised of 100 percent eco-friendly paper made from wood and rice.

The Magic of the Water Lantern Festival

This whimsical, romantic, and family-friendly event is a great way to come together with friends and neighbors. Make the most of the beautiful summers in Kansas City. Forge memories that will last a lifetime and witness a spectacle straight out of a fairy tale. The community gathers to eat from local food trucks, dance to music, and celebrate life at this incredibly special festival.
